If
you have no home, job or bank account it’s virtually impossible to
get yourself off the street and find your own home without a little help.
One example is Darlington, which has one of the highest number of homeless people in the North East. Over 70 young people were provided with emergency accommodation last year by local charity Darlington Stop2Night. Volunteer families provided clean, safe accommodation and a warm meal whilst permanent accommodation was found.
Darlington Stop2Night offers an imaginative way to help and combat the
problem of young homeless people in the Darlington area. The charity relies
on the goodwill of people in the local community to help these young people
who are not a priority under current homeless legislation and would probably
find themselves sleeping rough.
