Young
people with disabilities find becoming an adult especially challenging.
To improve this situation, local group Moveable Feast is constantly creating
opportunities for their young members to get involved in the wider community
through running arts and theatre projects. Their productions are enlightening
and joyful, demonstrating that people with learning disabilities have
something to offer and talents that can be shared and are of value.
County Durham Foundation helped Moveable Feast celebrate their success with a wider audience by paying for their film, which promoted inclusion and the break down of barriers that prevent people with learning disabilities being fully accepted as independent people.
Movable Feast has received over £13,000 in support from County Durham Foundation. In addition to arts and theatre projects they have also received a grant to help produce a video promoting the talent of people with learning disabilities. The video will be shown at a range of venues and can be used as a training tool to inform and promote the inclusion of people with learning disabilities.
